Which country are Dentium implants from?

According to Dentium's own timeline, the company was founded in 2000 under the name Biostech Co., Ltd. to make dental implants, and in the same year it opened a manufacturing facility in the Korean city of Gunpo. It received ISO 9001 certification in 2001 and changed its name to Dentium Co., Ltd. in 2002. The name Implantium also dates from these early years: the company's timeline lists an 'Implantium Symposium' every year from 2003 to 2008.

The founder is Jeong Seong-min, who worked as a dentist in Korea. According to a 2024 profile on the Korean business news site BusinessPost, Jeong is a dentistry graduate of Kyung Hee University; he founded Biostech in 2000, stepped down as chief executive in 2015 and handed the company over to professional management, and in March 2022 was re-elected to the board as the company's largest shareholder and founder. The same report states that Dentium began trading on KOSPI, the main market of the Korean stock exchange, in 2017, and that the company's head office moved from Seoul's Gangnam district to Suwon on 27 November 2023.

On the question of which country, the origin, the founder and the head office all point to the same place: South Korea. The company is also organised abroad; its timeline records that a manufacturing company (ICT VINA) was set up in Vietnam in 2018. So saying 'Dentium is always made in Korea' is incomplete, and so is saying 'it is made in Vietnam'. The place of manufacture and the manufacturer of the product you are given are shown on the label on the box and in the ÜTS record.

The link with Turkey also appears in the company's own records: its timeline states that a local company was set up in Turkey in 2017 under the name BMS TK Medikal Dış Ticaret Limited Şirketi. The company's news page reports that a Dentium Türkiye seminar attended by more than 200 dentists was held in Turkey in 2025. This is a positive sign for access to parts; but you still need to ask your clinic which parts are in stock.

Dentium is not a single implant but a family. SuperLine II, as the manufacturer describes it, is a line with a conical hex connection, a platform switching design and a sandblasted, acid-etched SLA surface. Implantium II is known for its double-threaded body and the micro-threads on its neck; the manufacturer states that this line is backed by more than 20 years of clinical follow-up. The manufacturer's SuperLine II page says the internal hex prosthetic interface is common to all diameters and systems.

The newer-generation bright implant, however, has a different connection. The manufacturer describes bright as having a 20-degree external taper and an external hex connection; the manufacturer's page describes its Tissue Level type and says that narrow bodies, with diameters down to 3.5 mm, are a reliable solution in the back of the mouth too. Because SuperLine II's internal hex interface and bright's external hex connection are different, the top part is chosen according to the line. That is why a card that just says 'Dentium' is not enough.

For a factual answer to 'is it any good', the publications can be consulted. In a study of 370 Implantium implants placed in 121 patients at Korea University Guro Hospital between 2004 and 2011, 13 implants were lost; 7 of these were lost before they were loaded. The ten-year cumulative survival was found to be 94.8 per cent. The two factors that significantly predicted loss in the study were smoking and the implant having been placed in the upper jaw. This is a retrospective study from a single hospital and it looks only at Implantium; it is not a comparison between brands.

There is also a news item that often gets mixed up. In November 2025 Dentium announced that it was the first company in Korea to be certified under the MDR, Europe's new medical device regulation. However, the announcement covers an imaging device called bright CT and a treatment unit called bright Alone; implants are not the subject of that news. An implant's status in Europe is shown by that implant's own certification.

Even so, the brand is the smaller half of the question: planning, how the load is spread, smoking, diabetes control and regular maintenance determine the outcome more strongly. Dentium's lines are conventional two-piece implants; the implant used in our protocol of fixed teeth in 72 hours with the Ihde method belongs to a different class: a one-piece corticobasal implant that anchors in the hard outer layer of the jaw.

The criteria below do not depend on the name of the line; they look at the conventional two-piece implant design and can be discussed at your consultation.

They are short questions, but their answers put on record today the information that will be useful to you years from now.

   Which line will be used?

   SuperLine II, Implantium II or bright. It should be possible to explain the choice in terms of the density, width and height of your bone.

   What type of connection?

   An internal hex, or an external hex as on bright? The top parts, and every future repair, depend on this answer.

   If there is immediate loading, will the anchorage be measured?

   Loading on the same day is a decision made when the insertion torque and stability turn out to be sufficient. You can ask for the measured values to be written into your record.

   Can I see the barcode on the label?

   Medical devices put on the market in Turkey must be registered in the Product Tracking System (ÜTS). The number on the label shows the product's manufacturer, place of manufacture and registration.

   Where do parts come from, and how long do they take?

   Ask whether the clinic has parts in stock and, if not, how long it takes to obtain them. Being able to give the answer in days is a good sign.

If the first four points below are in place, the difference between lines and brands narrows; if they are not, no line name makes up for the gap.

The sheer number of line names and the company's products beyond implants produce a few misleading shortcuts online.

Nobody asks for these documents today; but years from now, in another dentist's chair, they will be the first thing you are asked for.

1. An implant card with the name of the line

   The card should say more than just 'Dentium': it should give the line name, such as SuperLine, Implantium or bright, together with the diameter, length and lot number. If anything is missing, ask the clinic that carried out the treatment to complete it.

2. The measured values

   If immediate loading was carried out, the insertion torque and stability values. If a problem is being discussed later, these are the only record showing the initial anchorage.

3. A copy of the barcode

   The barcode on the product label carries the number that identifies the implant in ÜTS. Keep it together with your card.

4. The X-ray from the first day

   The X-ray that shows where your bone level was at the start. Only with it can any change be read when it is compared with an X-ray taken years later.

The implant's country does not explain the difference in a quote on its own. The total is made up of these items:

Choice of line and body

Within the same brand, the lines can differ in cost. Check which line is written in the quote; the phrase 'Dentium implant' is not enough on its own.

Top parts

Ready-made parts, patient-specific parts or parts for a multi-unit prosthesis make more difference than the implant body in most plans.

The prosthesis and laboratory work

In full-mouth plans, the material and workmanship of the bridgework make up most of the total. This is the last place where savings should be made.

Preparatory procedures and later maintenance

A graft, a sinus procedure or extractions are separate items. The burden of repairs over the years depends on how easily parts can be obtained.
